I love using the Pomodoro method and get more done because of it, but waking up between 4:30 and 5 am keeps me productive. Yes, everyone is asleep, and the house is quiet early in the morning, so I can focus easier. Waking up early is so difficult, though! It makes me want to get more creative work done because I have to tear myself out of bed (another violent male metaphor) and feel like must use the time well.
When I was a barista I’d wake up at 4am, and I was my most productive. Getting that job helped me write. Now I cannot be awake before 11am, and I miss mornings.
These are all super suggestions, and they are shorter and (of course) funnier than expensive habit-coaching services. Trust me, I used to work for one. Try what Elissa says instead. I recommend the free BreakTimer app if Pomodoro doesn’t work for you.
Taking a nap after I wake up has been highly effective for me lately.
Normalize morning naps!
Constantly trying to give my brain a boner
Fantastic post!! [START HERE] is my version of the post it note since all my work is online.

I live by the Pomodoro method because I know I can tolerate almost anything for 25 minutes, while expansive amounts of time overwhelm me
Exactly.

Good lord. This essay is so helpful I wish I had a bigger problem.
My most effective trick is writing longhand. I take the words less seriously, the physicality is satisfying, and there are no notifications to check.
Fabulous and energising, thanks.
Reading is like giving your brain a boner - I wish I had come up with that first Elissa!
gosh, this is beautiful. Thank you.
